Lasagna

Here is my recipe for lasagna. Like most of my recipes, it is adapted from another source. The original for this one was in the April/May 2001 issue of Taste of Home magazine. It had been awhile since I last made lasagna so my guys were pretty excited when this appeared on our supper table this evening. There is even enough leftover to have as leftovers tomorrow!
1 pound ground beef
Garlic powder and pepper to taste
1 1/2 cups water
15 ounce can tomato sauce
6 ounce can tomato paste
1 envelope dried vegetable soup mix
2 teaspoons dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon sugar
9 oven ready lasagna noodles
24 ounces cottage cheese
3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1 1/2 - 2 cups grated Parmesan cheese.
Spray a 9x13 dish with cooking spray & set aside. In a large pan brown ground beef. Drain & rinse browned meat & return to the pan. Add water, garlic powder, pepper, tomato sauce, oregano, soup mix, tomato paste, and sugar. Stir. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover, and let simmer for 30 minutes. Spoon 1/2 cup meat sauce into prepared dish. Top with 3 noodles, 1/3 of meat sauce & 1/3 of the cheeses. Repeat layers twice encing with mozzarella. Cover with foil & bake at 350 for 40 minutes or until bubbly. Let stand for 10 minutes before cutting. Makes about 12 servings.
