My garden experiment seems to be working so far. In the big planter and 3 five gallon buckets we are seeing loads of cherry tomatoes, some bell peppers, squash plants that are loaded down with blossoms, teeny green beans, and plenty of beet, trunip, and carrot greens (not sure yet if the roots will actually develop). In the little patch of garden that I set into our landscaping there are more cherry tomatoes and bell peppers (the purple ones are already ripening), squash plants, sage, lavender, spearmint, and parsley. The little shoots of broccoli that the bunnies got to are growing, there are 3 tiny little cucumber plants, a couple of stray carrots and beets, and some moss roses that are coming up voluntarily from plants I had last summer. Just before we left for vacation last week I put in a few watermelon seeds and I can already see seedlings coming up! I may try to plant a few more seeds in the bare patches and just see what happens. It's so fun to see Seth and Caleb check the plants each day to see what is up. They are a great help in watering the plants. Neither of them likes tomatoes, but have been sampling the cherry tomatoes off our plants and have decided that they aren't too bad. :)
